"Hayashi" - woods
Detailed segments of locally felled deciduous trees; Birch, Oak, and Ornamental Cherry illustrated in minimalist pointillism technique using black ink. This selection of hardwoods represents the strength that lies in the heart of these deciduous trees, including our own native mighty Oak. Hayashi was inspired by the time I spent working with Cedar and Star on our collaboration of pyrographed log rounds.
Hayashi is printed to very high quality on Conqueror 100% cotton 300gsm board by a local family run print shop. The piece is framed in colour "ebony", which is a deep brown wood colour.
Hayashi showcases the wood's intricate beauty and the personalities of each tree. For me, the appearance of the wood very much represents the tree itself; the Birch wood being very pale and smooth with the faintest of rings, opposed to the dark striated rings of the Oak and thick dark bark of the Cherry.
Hayashi can be hung portrait or landscape, there is no right or wrong! I sign the mat board assuming portrait orientation as shown, however if you would like to have it landscape simply let me know by selecting an option when adding to basket and I can sign it that way for you.
